Aberdeenshire has a variety of mountain bike trails for all abilities. You can mountain bike over Scottish Munros, past glistening lochs, through ancient forests or over heathery moors.
Bennachie, one of the best known hill ranges in Aberdeenshire and is only a 20 minute drive from the farm.
It is home to a wide range of signposted tracks. The lower trails and paths around the visitor centre offer excellent routes for both mountain and gravel cyclists. More experienced cyclists will be interested in the trails that go up the steep sides of Bennachie and across the plateau.
Pitfichie Forest is a half hour drive from Logie Newton Lodges with mountain biking trails that lead through varied forest and across open hill tops.
Testament to the challenges presented by Pitfichie, is the inclusion of Pitfichie in both the Aberdeenshire and Scottish Enduro Series competitions and the frequent inclusion of the downhill course in the Scottish Downhill Association's championship series.
Slightly further afield (just under an hour’s drive) is the Tarland Trails. Their Drummy Woods is the original small, purpose made, set of trails that cater for beginners up to intermediate levels. There is also the new set of trails located on, and around, the hill of Pittenderich. The trails consist of sweeping burns, berms, jumps and technical riding.
