Logie Newton Farm
Sustainability policy
Our commitment to sustainability
At Logie Newton, we believe that luxury and sustainability can go hand in hand. Our family has always cared deeply about the environment, and our lodges continue this legacy by offering eco-friendly luxury experiences in harmony with nature. We’re dedicated to safeguarding our planet for future generations, preserving our beautiful landscape, and supporting our local community.
Our vision
Our lodges are designed for those who appreciate the beauty of nature while enjoying the comfort of luxury. We encourage guests to immerse themselves in our natural surroundings, explore our woodlands, and connect with the diverse wildlife that calls our farm home.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do - from how we power our lodges to the suppliers we work with.
We’re proud to be working towards achieving the Gold Green Tourism award.
Renewable energy and efficiency
We harness the power of nature with two 11kW wind turbines installed on our farm. Recently, we connected these turbines to a 60kV battery storage system that powers the lodges, our farm, and even supplies surplus energy back to the grid.
Our lodges are equipped with energy-efficient appliances and air-to-air heat pumps for climate control. The houses on the farm are all heated using a biomass boiler and we ensure our wood chip is sustainably sourced.
We also reduce water waste with innovative fixtures like CoolStart taps.
We’re committed to minimising waste, providing guests with clearly labelled recycling bins and refillable bottles for toiletries, and encouraging sustainable practices through our digital guest guide.
For guests with electric vehicles, we offer an on-site EV charger.
Biodiversity and conservation
Our lodges are nestled next to 65 acres of native woodland, home to deer, birds, and other wildlife. Guests can explore grass tracks through the woods while enjoying the tranquillity of nature.
We’ve enhanced the environment with wildflower banks, hedgerows, and a wetland area around our pond, creating habitats that promote biodiversity.
The wider farm includes 60 acres of millennial forest, 20km of grass margins, and various dykes—all providing essential spaces for wildlife.
Sourcing locally and responsibly
We prioritise local and sustainable sourcing. Our lodges were built with the help of nearby suppliers such as Blair Equibuild, John Wink Design and RPD, who share our sustainability values.
We’ve chosen Aluclad windows and doors from Nordan, known for their low embodied carbon and long-lasting, recyclable materials.
Our cladding is made from locally sourced Scotlarch and treated with natural, non-toxic coatings for durability and minimal environmental impact. The decking, made from thermopine, is sustainably treated to extend its lifespan and reduce resource use. Both of which have been sourced from Russwood at Newtonmore.
Supporting our local community
We’re passionate about supporting the local economy.
Through our “Lodge Partnership” initiative, we’ve partnered with businesses that offer unique services and experiences to our guests - whether it’s a relaxing massage, a photo shoot, or a bespoke car detailing service.
We also promote local restaurants, cafes, farm shops, and activities in our guest guide, encouraging guests to explore and enjoy what our region has to offer.
Health and wellbeing
Guests at our lodges can enjoy a holistic approach to wellbeing. We’ve teamed up with a local massage therapist, Karen at Therapy Barn, and offer on-site wellbeing services with Gillian, our Reiki and EFT/Tapping practitioner.
Our 20km of farm tracks wind through serene woodlands, providing ideal spots for relaxation and connecting with nature.
Each lodge also features hot tubs, comfortable seating, and cozy indoor spaces for unwinding in luxury.
For those who enjoy cycling, we have prepared a comprehensive cycle guide where we share various cycle route suggestions, along with recommended cycle friendly cafes.
Education and awareness
We believe that sustainability is a shared responsibility. Through our digital guest guide, we provide information on our eco-friendly practices, the farm’s sustainable operations, and tips for reducing waste and conserving resources during your stay.
We want our guests to leave with not only wonderful memories but also a greater understanding of how we can all protect the environment.
Our goal: gold Green Tourism Award
We’re committed to achieving the Gold Green Tourism award - a recognition that reflects the high standards of sustainability and environmental responsibility we strive for. This goal drives us to constantly improve and innovate in every aspect of our operations.
