The Cruickshank Family, Logie Newton Farm, 2024

Host Louise

Louise is the visionary behind our luxury lodges at Logie Newton. Born and raised on the family farm, she ventured to Edinburgh for university and a career in accounting before returning to the farm in 2014.
In 2023, Louise tied the knot with Joiner Mike right here at Logie Newton, making a childhood dream come true. Louise and Mike share their home with Mike’s son, Kaiden. An energetic fox red labrador, Ozzie, three ponies (Highlands Bell and Heidi, and playful Welshie Harry), three alpacas (Shadow, Willow and Ella) and three Valais Blacknose Sheep (Little Loon, Lewis Cabaaldi and Luigi) complete the family.
Inspired by her love for the farm and the desire to share its beauty with others, Louise has dreamed, believed, and achieved her vision of opening luxury lodges on the site. Her passion for this place, where she has so many cherished memories, is the driving force behind Logie Newton Lodges.
When not immersed in numbers or running Logie Newton Lodges, Louise finds peace in the outdoors. Whether strolling the farm’s tracks or horseback riding with Bell and Heidi, the farm is her haven.
Louise is also an avid road cyclist. In September 2018, she cycled 1,018 miles around Scotland in 12 days with a support team. She also hosted a charity ball with Mark Beaumont, the man who cycled the world (twice!), as the guest speaker. The cycle, ball, and auction raised over £30k for two local charities—Kayleigh’s Wee Stars and Clan Cancer Support.
You can get access to Louise's cycling adventure tips and routes on our blog.
Farmer David

David is the cornerstone of Logie Newton and proud patriarch of the Cruickshank family legacy. As the 5th generation to oversee our beloved farm, David’s passion for innovation and sustainability runs deep. From being one of the first in the area to install wind turbines and embrace biomass heating, he’s always at the forefront of the agricultural advancements, ensuring Logie Newton thrives for generations to come.
Off the fields, David can be found on the curling rink or perfecting his swing on the golf course.
But what is key for driving Logie Newton Farm, Lodges & Events forward is his experience volunteering with Turriff Rotary Club. It is this community spirit that helps drive our desire to support other local businesses across the North East of Scotland.
You can read about Farmer David's 5 favourite golf courses in Aberdeenshire in his blog.
Joiner Mike

By day, Mike is a skilled joiner, meticulously building and repairing with Logie Newton Joinery - his own joinery business specialising in high quality workmanship. Mike, alongside his former boss, Blair, and the rest of the Blair Equibuild team, were the grafters behind our lodge build.
Mike is married to Host Louise and is learning the farming ropes from father-in-law, Farmer David, to help him take steps towards retirement in the years to come.
When Mike is not tending to the land and supporting the Logie Newton Farm, Lodges and Events team you’ll find him spending time with son Kaiden or out touring the countryside on his motorbike. Mike previously played rugby for Turriff Rugby Football Club, where he was known for his dedication both on and off the pitch.
Alpaca Keeper Kaiden

Joiner Mike’s son, Kaiden, looks after our three alpacas during his weekends at the farm. He’s a passionate rugby player and very creative. We love his dedication and interest in farm life and he’ll be happy chatting to guests offering his advice on the best walk routes around the farm or sharing his alpaca knowledge.
Wellbeing Guru Gillian

Gillian is Farmer David’s partner and our onsite wellbeing practitioner. She leads a holistic wellbeing practice offering nurturing care to both humans and animals alike.
Specialising in EFT/Tapping, Reiki and EMMETT techniques, Gillian’s healing touch brings balance and harmony to body, mind and spirit. Whether you’re seeking relief from physical discomfort or a soothing sanctuary for emotional release, Gillian’s gentle guidance will guide you towards holistic wellness.
For Gillian, life is complete with music, her dog Sandy, sporting activities and her cherished grandchildren.
Lodge guests can book a session with Gillian during their stay.
Pawsome Ozzie

Our loveable and excitable fox red labrador Ozzie is the four-legged mastermind behind "Ozzie’s Pawsome Picks Guide" (available to all our guests who bring their dog on holiday)!
When he's not busy sniffing out the best local eateries or leading impromptu farmyard adventures, you'll find Ozzie charming guests at our dog-friendly lodges (Bennachie Lodge and Woodland Lodge).
